The twenty rugs on display celebrate the creativity to be found in this genre, ranging form the strict simplicity of design seen in earlier rugs made for monastic purposes, through to later rugs that celebrate the individuality of the weaver and her desire to experiment with new ideas or trends, such as Art Deco style rugs with patterns derived from Chinese brocades.
